Alternative art practice space Khoj International Artists’ Association is considered the cultural laboratory for hundreds of artists across India and South Asia. Now it’s the turn of the artists to lend support to it. Ten major contemporary artists have donated artworks that will be auctioned as part of Christie’s: The India Sale, which will be previewed in Delhi today (from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and tomorrow (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at Taj Mahal Hotel, Man Singh Road. The auction, which will be Christie’s second in India, will take place on December 11, 2014 at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.

Artists like Anish Kapoor, Anita Dube, Atul Dodiya, Bharti Kher, Dayanita Singh, Mithu Sen, Nilima Sheikh, Shilpa Gupta, Subodh Gupta and Thukral & Tagra have come forward to raise money for Khoj by donating their art works. As for the Christie’s auction, it will have works of Vasudeo S. Gaitonde, Tyeb Mehta and other significant works and items by some of India’s designated National Treasure artists.
