Independence Day celebrations

All Saints College in the capital city conducted a two-day National Integration Day programme to celebrate the 66 Independence Day. While various literary and cultural competitions were held on the first day by the Department of History and Politics, flag hoisting marked the beginning of the second day’s programmes. Manager of the college, Mother General Mary Elma, hoisted the flag in the college. Winners of the previous day’s competitions staged skit and dance and song performances. College Principal Dr. Mary Metilda Rose, college union chairperson Amrutha Mohan and NSS Officer in charge Dr.Sr Pascoela D'souza delivered the Independence Day messages.

New PG course

Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Anad, has commenced the first M.Tech programme in ‘Power Systems’ amongst the Self Financing Engineering Colleges under University of Kerala. In connection with this, a two-day technical seminar and workshops were conducted in the college last week. Chairman of the College, G.Mohandas inaugurated the beginning of the course. Dr. K.P. Parameswaran Pillai, former Principal, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, gave the key note address. The technical seminars on ‘Challenges and Opportunities in Power Sector’ were led by Dr.P.S. Chandra Mohan, professor and Chairman of Electrical Department, Amrita School of Engineering, Kollam. This was followed by talks and workshops led by experts. Director Dr.Ashalatha Thampuran and principal Dr.Ibrahimkutty also were present at the event.
