Actor Anuj Sachdeva is gung-ho about his latest TV serial
“During my college days, my friends tried their best to convince me to take up modelling as a profession but frankly, I never had the confidence to do that. It was my father who initiated me into it. He was watching Grasim Mr. India 2004 and suddenly he said ‘Anuj, why can’t you be there?’ I took it seriously and it was at that moment that I took to modelling,” recalled model-turned-actor Anuj Sachdeva, who is seen in Phir Subah Hogi, a social drama currently airing on Zee TV. The actor was in town earlier to promote his latest endeavour. The show is set in Bundelkhand and revolves around Sugni, a girl from Bediya tribe, one of the many nomadic tribes of North India. The 29-year-old actor, who had a cameo appearance in the movie Delhi Heights says he doesn’t come with any pre-concieved notions for any role. The Delhi-born actor who featured in the season 3 of MTV Roadies talks about the transformation in him as an individual and his evolution as an actor. “I am really philosophical in nature, I follow Buddhism and I have learned a lot from that. It teaches you that you should keep on evolving with time and gives you the will power to stay strong whatever the situation. If you haven’t experienced any hardships and emotions in your life, you can never be a good actor,” emphasises Anuj. Having played the lead in Star Plus’ primetime show Sabki Laadli Bebo as well, the actor says he could relate to the character of Amrit Malhotra because of its Punjabi background and is all praise for the strong message, his latest serial sends out. The show throws light on the social disparities. “I want to pursue films as of now, but I am an actor who wouldn’t settle for insignificant roles. I would be selective about the projects I take which would help me to be experimental and take my career to a new high. I am also talking to film directors,” responds Anuj when asked about his Bollywood plans.
