The monsoon has been a fickle beast this year, with sunny patches interspersed between long periods when the Sun seems to be on an extended vacation. When the showers have come though, none have been spared. Those unlucky enough to get caught out in the rain seek refuge in shop awnings and under bridges, while the well prepared few soldier bravely through the deluge, trusting in their wet weather gear. Water mercilessly fills roads, rivers, canals and railway tracks alike, and lashing winds make even carrying umbrellas a daunting task. Amidst it all however, there is a simple pleasure in sitting at home and watching the rain. After all, no matter how much we deny it when splashing through puddles, who doesn't love the rain?
