Starting a business or an enterprise on your own is a scary, yet exhilarating experience. Be it a tech start-up or a new nursery, there is so much that you need to do. And if you have a team, work becomes easy, but coordination and delegation become tougher. Here are a few apps that could help you manage some of the chaos better – especially if you are the hands-on kind of boss.
TodoistToo many lists, sticky notes and memos driving you crazy? Todoist is a to-do app and task manager in one, which lets you create checklists, monitor projects, set up reminders or even collaborate with a team. The app is available cross-platform, so you can keep yourself updated whether you’re at work, home, at a schmooze fest or on the go. And for the Monica Gellers, the app comes equipped with the option of creating sub-tasks, sub-projects, colour-coded projects and priority levels. A feature that grabs my attention is Todoist Karma. You can set goals and monitor your progress with project-wise colour-coded graphs. The app can also be integrated with some others like Google Drive or IF for more efficiency.
SlackA very handy app for team discussions and online meetings, Slack is basically a team chat service which lets team members discuss anything thread-wise. The team can also easily share resources (documents, images, files) by just dragging and dropping them across the screen. Available cross-platform, the app can be integrated with Twitter, Hangouts, Dropbox, etc. You can even use it for comic relief by sharing Grumpy cat gifs (I know that’s what I’d do).
MyStocksExactly what it sounds like, MyStocks helps you stay updated on the status of your stocks. Or those you need to keep an eye on. Just add the names of the companies whose stocks you need to follow. You can rearrange them on the screen by priority, receive alerts, get great analysis, PreMarket and AfterHour quotes and detailed data in the form of the opening, volume, average volume, P\E dividend, yield. One interesting little titbit: data sync is automatically paused during the weekend. There is a disclaimer by the developer, though: since the app “uses free services to get quote data, some markets like PSE are not covered”. Fair enough.
Chrome Remote DesktopHello there, Mr/Ms Workaholic. If you’re just getting your business off the ground (or your boss is after you like a hound from Hell) and you are far, far away and you need to access your computer, make sure you get the app. Install it on your phone and get the Chrome Remote Desktop extension for the browser of the computer (you may need permission from the IT admin if it’s a very secure office system), set it up and you’re good to go. Not too many heavy tasks are possible, but for getting files and accomplishing light tasks, the app is a life-saver.
