The Swiftpoint mouse has been created for those who have to work on their laptops for long hours and detest using the touch pad. It is a small, wireless mouse that can be used directly on the surface of your laptop. If you work primarily on Photoshop and other software that require fine cursor movements, then Swiftpoint is just the thing for you. Swiftpoint is very small and made of shiny black plastic and has red- and-black-coloured soft rubber finger grips. It also has two LEDs on the top – one shows the status of the charge and another tells you about the status of the wireless. The Left and Right click buttons are situated along the top front edge of the mouse. The Left button is the farthest away and the Right button is right behind it. The Left button is made of soft rubber so that your finger does not slip off. You can use the touch features of the mouse instead of touching the touch screen of your Windows-based laptop .

On flipping over the mouse, you will be able to see a docking port and an LED. In order to use the mouse, you will have to plug in the USB (that comes with the mouse) in your laptop’s USB port. This receiver also acts as the docking or charging port. The dock has been designed quite cleverly and is magnetic. All you have to do is rest the mouse on it for it to snap on; it will remain there resolutely even if you turn your laptop over.

The charger will also rapidly recharge the mouse when you dock it. If you leave it on for 30 seconds, you will get enough juice to work it for an hour. The full charge runs for about three weeks. When you use it, your index finger will rest on the Left mouse button and it can easily move over to use the scroll wheel. This mouse can be a little inconvenient for people with large hands because of its size. They might find it to be very small.

One of the best features of this mouse is that it is small enough to be used directly on your laptop’s surface without causing any problems. So, as a travel mouse, it has an edge over the typical mini mouse, of being more convenient. This feature comes tremendously handy when you are working on your laptop at the airport while you are waiting at the gate for your flight, or while sitting on your couch and surfing the Internet on your laptop.

It works great when tested with MacBook Air. It does not pose any problems on having to wake up after not being used as the laptop was in sleep mode for several hours. It becomes ready to be used the moment you open the lid of your laptop.

This mouse is an interesting alternative to the touch pad of laptops and it does have its advantages. You can use it as a travel mouse since it is so small and it won’t take up too much space in the laptop bag. But some people might find it easier to use the touch pad 99 per cent of the time when not travelling.
