A New Year ushers in new beginnings and new hopes. We asked a few personalities the changes they would like to witness in Hyderabad this year. From finding a solution to T-struggle to better development across different sectors, here is a wish list.

Shilpa Reddy

Designer

I hope a solution is arrived at for the Telangana issue so that the city can look forward to better prosperity. Before the agitations, Hyderabad was growing at a rapid pace, making strides in medical tourism and attracting industrial and corporate giants. Ss a designer, I hope Hyderabadis become more fashion conscious. Not everyone needs to wear designer clothes. You just need to learn the art of dressing right for the occasion and not overdo it, appearing like a decked up Christmas tree.

Saina Nehwal

Badminton champion

Hyderabad is the most beautiful city and everything is good here. However, I hope more sports persons, particularly in badminton, would come up from the city in 2012.

Murali Mohan

Actor and businessman

The uncertainty that Hyderabad has been experiencing with bandhs and dharnas should come to an end. Because of the unrest, development was not happening in the city and a few IT companies shifted base to other states. We need to see a revival in sectors like real estate, tourism and hospitality. Let's hope and wish that development takes off in a big way.

Santha K John

Managing director

JWT Mindset Advertising Pvt Ltd

In 2012, I hope we as Hyderabadis continue to have the tehzeeb that we are famous for!

Ashwini Ponnappa

Badminton player

I wish Hyderabad doesn't see the unrest and struggle like in 2011. It is a beautiful city and living here has been a pleasant experience. Unrest throws life out of gear and makes it difficult for the common man. Another wish and hope for me is to win gold in the Olympics. We are all trying hard and putting our best efforts to bring glory to the country and the state.

Sreeram Chandra

Singer

This city's charm lies in making everyone feel comfortable. Hyderabad is a friendly city but of late, the peaceful and the friendly city's status has taken a beating. I wish people strive to meet their goals with non-violent methods. The disturbance which we face due to the violent agitations scare people away. Let us make an effort to celebrate the fact that we are Hyderabadis and allow development to take us forward.

Vasuki Sunkavalli

Model

I don't know if it is even possible but I really wish to see beggars rehabilitated. I grew up in India and grew up seeing beggars on the streets but this fact really bothers me.

I would also be happy if the government can do something to giving us pavements to walk on. People walk on the road because our city lacks pavements.

Finally I would love to see my city getting featured on the world tourism map. Hyderabad should feature as a beautiful, must-visit city.
