German auto giant Volkswagen launched the much-awaited 2014 Polo hatchback at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Polo will now come equipped with a 1.5 litre diesel engine, replacing the old 1.6 litre diesel mill. The petrol variant of the car will continue to use the old 1.2 litre engine.
The cosmetic changes include redesigned headlamps, fog lamps, front grille and bumpers. The front grille now comes with a thin chrome strip running across the air dams.
The redesigned tail lights and rear bumper are subtle changes at the rear.
On the inside, the car now sports a three-spoke steering wheel which comes with a new button layout on either side.
The 2014 Polo also comes with more detailed multi-info display in the centre and an instrument cluster in the dashboard.
The petrol version of the new car will go on sale from Rs. 4.99 lakh to Rs. 6.07 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while the diesel variant will cost in the range of Rs. 6.27 - 7.37 lakh. The new Polo GT TSI, Polo GT TDI and Cross Polo are expected to hit the showrooms in early September 2014.
