The automobile market is on a downward curve. Almost everyday we get to hear of a dip in car sales as compared to previous years. Even major companies have had to resort to incentives and inducements to woo prospective buyers. Under the circumstances one would not expect new cars to hit the market, yet the automobile sector continues to confound the pundits with new cars filling in the already brimming market.
Last week, Honda launched its new car Amaze in both petrol and diesel. The petrol version is driven by the same 1.2 litre iVtec engine which is doing duty in Brio and the diesel car is powered by a 1.5 litre iDtec 4-cylinder diesel engine giving a maximum output of 100PS@ 3600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque@ 1750 rpm has been exclusively developed for the Indian market following extensive market surveys on people’s driving needs and lifestyles. Amaze, which falls under the sub-4metre category at 3990 mm, has got ample leg space for the tallest of Indian men and the 1505 mm tall car provides a good head clearance.
Speaking on the occasion Hironori Kanayama, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “Amaze will be a game changer for us. The car is powerful yet fuel efficient. Compact yet spacious, stylish yet affordable. With nearly 90 per cent localisation we have come up with such aggressive price and yes, this is not our introductory price, this is our launch price.” The Amaze is offered in six petrol and four diesel variants between Rs.4.99 lakhs and Rs. 7.60 lakhs and comes in six different colours.
