Skoda Auto India which has so far sold 1,85,000 units since its inception in India in November 2001 has now come up with a new improved luxury Superb sedan. The new Superb which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Greater Noida was officially launched in New Delhi again during the Auto Expo. This sedan will directly compete with the likes of the Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, Honda Accord and also Nissan’s Teanna. Skoda which has been a little off pace in India is trying to capture the lost market share by introducing models like the redesigned Octavia some five months back and now planning to bring in the new Yeti and a refurbished Fabia in 2015 which will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Superb, the flagship of the Czech company now features the new Skoda design language. The front and the rear sections have been redesigned with clean lines. The interior sports a new steering wheel. The front end has been redesigned with respect to the radiator grille, vehicle logo, front headlights, fog lights, bumper, front fender and the bonnet. The Superb now has bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights and LED turning signals. The rear end is now more clean and clear, the C-shape of the taillights shines even more brightly than before. The 5th door can be opened in two different ways. One can either just open the boot lid or the entire rear boot including the rear window. It has a big luggage compartment with 565 litres capacity and can be extended to 1700 litres by folding the rear seats. There are numerous storage options in both the front and rear of the vehicle with an umbrella compartment in the left rear door. The engines offered for the Sedan in India are a petrol 1.8 TSI-118 kW and a diesel engine 2.0 TDI-103 kW.

Speaking at the launch, Sudhir Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Skoda Auto India said, “The introduction of the redesigned Superb is part of our ongoing model offensive strategy. The refreshed Superb is even more appealing than its predecessor and retains the features and comforts that our customers have become accustomed to.
