Automobili Lamborghini, a leading player in the luxury super sports car segment, launched the all-new Huracan in India on Monday. Priced at a whopping Rs 3.43 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), the Huracan LP 610-4 replaces the Italian sports car major’s earlier successful model, the Gallardo.

The Huracan LP made its global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.

The Huracan boasts of a naturally aspirated V10 engine with 5.2 litre displacement. This allows it to accelerate from 0-100 kilometres per hour (kmph) in a jaw-dropping 3.2 seconds and touch a maximum speed of 325 kmph.

Addressing media, Sebastien Henry, Head South East Asia and Pacific, Lamborghini, said the car could go from 0-200 kmph in 9.9 seconds. `` The Huracan boasts of a new chassis of aluminum and carbon fibre, which makes it lighter than the Gallardo at 1,422 kilograms. We believe in using cutting edge technology and materials in all our cars and invest 20 per cent of our turnover in research & development (R&D) – much higher than other car manufacturers.’’

For the first time, Lamborghini will be introducing the 7-speed dual clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive that also features a new hydraulic multi-plate clutch. Three driving modes are available from road to race track and these can be selected using a switch on the steering wheel. The system has been named ANIMA (Italian for soul) – Adaptive Network Intelligent Management.

Lamborghini has two exclusive showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai that have been accepting booking for the Huracan since January 2014.

Pavan Shetty, Operations Head, Lamborghini India said the company, in response to demand will be opening one more in south India by year-end, most likely in Bangalore. ``We have been in India since 2001 and have almost 100 cars on the road,’’ he said.

Lamborghini India sold 17 units in 2012 and 22 units in 2013.
