Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki on Thursday launched its quarter-litre streetbike Z250, based on the Ninja 250R, and the 650cc ER-6n. The Z250 has been priced at Rs. 2.99 lakh while its elder sibling, the ER-6n, comes with a price tag of Rs. 4.78 lakh.
The 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine in the Z250 churns out at a maximum power of 32 PS at 11,000 RPM and a peak torque of 21 N-m at 10,000 RPM. The power to the wheels is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox. The Z-800-inspired quarter-litre bike comes with naked styling - minimum body panels while borrowing a diamond type steel frame for the chassis from the 250R. The motorcycle also comes with a Fuel Injection system and dual throttle valve technology to optimise fuel consumption. On the braking front, a single 290m petal disc does its duty at the front while a 220mm one is at the rear.
The Kawasaki ER-6n’s 649cc motor produces a healthy 72.1 PS of power at 8, 500 RPM and a maximum torque of 64 N-m at 7,000 RPM.
“The super bike market in India is very attractive and has been growing at 30-40 per cent. We hope to register faster than the industry in India. We will come out with more new launches this year,” said Shigeto Nishikawa, Deputy Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd, while announcing the launch of the company’s exclusive dealership in Chennai. The Japanese company claimed to have sold about 250 units over the past one year and is confident of sustaining its strong growth rate.
