Start-ups are cool now. New ventures, new ideas seem to be in abundance and so are the people willing to implement those. Recently I met the owners of Zu Tisch, a German restaurant set up in posh GK 1 M Block market. Right now employed with the corporate sector having full-time jobs, they eventually want to quit their well-settled jobs to devote themselves to the restaurant and make it a brand. Three of them are IITians and at the moment they are managing both the things efficiently.

I liked the place as it has a very casual and modern interiors. As their menu is done by Raminder Bakshi, I was quite sure that the fare on offer would be interesting and indeed it was. I ordered a salad to start with which was a vivaldi con bello with chicken. The nicely presented salad was refreshing and very balanced with seasoning. A platter of German small plates consisted of potato wedges in barbeque sauce, crispy onion rings and mozzarella triangles.Rings were crunchy as they should be and went well with the aioli and the other accompanying dip. German hot wings were nicely glazed but had suppressed flavours and were low on spice levels as well. The good thing about Zu Tisch’s menu is that it has something for everyone. It has a good range of burgers and pizzas — both all-time favourites with Delhiiites. For my main course I had their lamb shank and big daddy trash truck burger. The braised and slowly roasted lamb shank was cooked to perfection and tasted divine. The texture of the meat was ten on ten. I really loved it to its core but the burger disappointed me due to its size. They project it to be really heavy but somehow for a person like me who loves big and messy burgers, this one appeared like a toy in hand.
