Recently I was at Khan Market looking for some culinary books at Bahrisons and ended up at a café in the middle lane called Market Café. Located on second floor with a terrace, it was quite a climb for me. Though it had nice homely interiors I still preferred to sit under the sun on the terrace which is not really an impressive space but good enough to settle for an hour.

The menu was a regular mix of world cuisine boasting a number of delicacies. To start off, zesty chicken clear soup followed by a grilled chicken salad with cous cous were quite good. The salad had the right balance of dressing and perfectly grilled chicken which really went well with cous cous, which was not so well pronounced by the staffers. I ordered a couple of starters and was disappointed to find not even a single preparation up to the mark. The Greek lamb gyro had one of the driest and chewy kababs I have ever come across. I am sure it was not made out of thigh mince which gave it such a chewy texture. Even the hummus with minced lamb and chicken were very flat and under-seasoned. Its presentation was such that hummus seemed to be the main dish whereas and chicken and lamb were merely condiments.

The only worthwhile dish in the whole gamut of starters was harissa marinated chicken skewers. The chicken had harissa flavour imbibed to its core and was tender to bite on. For the main course, I ordered four dishes all from the grill section. The first one to arrive was grilled fish in lemon mustard sauce. It was grilled to perfection keeping the moisture of the fish intact and even had a nice shine on the fish. Even the grilled chicken in rosemary balsamic sauce was good and not at all dry. It was a wonderful preparation where the balsamic helped to keep the meat succulent. Last of the grills, prawns in red pepper harissa were again done quite well. To end on a good note, molten chocolate cake turned out to be the best option.
