TASMAC opens exclusive beer outlet in city

Beer revellers have a reason to be happy. The international beer brands for which most plush bars or pubs charge Rs. 350 and above, will now be available at market price. TASMAC on Friday opened its exclusive beer outlet at Parson Complex in Nungambakkam. Stationed right below an already existing TASMAC, this shop is the only outlet exclusively for beer in Tamil Nadu.

The excitement of the employees on the opening day was palpable as they gave the final touches. Within minutes after the shop was officially opened, a customer walked in gushing that he had not had beer for a long time because he didn’t like standing in a queue at the regular outlets and congratulated the team. “From the time we placed the board, we had customers coming in and enquiring about the place. Now that it’s opened we are expecting good patronage. We do not have any seating arrangements and the customers have to purchase and leave. It is safe for women as we have cameras installed too,” says the supervisor.

The 500-square ft premise has approximately 2,000 bottles of beer which includes both local and international brands such as Kingfisher, Heineken, Corona, Kronenbourg, British Empire, Kolt, Vorion among others. The products are sold on MRP and the most expensive beer is Rs. 210.

Beer lovers are only happy that they now have a one-point stop for purchasing both imported and local brands. “To get hold of beer in a regular TASMAC is such a task and to get hold of an international brand is even tougher. This place looks hassle-free and one can buy as much as they want and leave,” says Prakash R., a businessman.

TASMAC’s Beer Shop (No. 926) is open from 10 a.m. t0 10 p.m. The already existing TASMAC upstairs will not sell beer and one has to come to the beer outlet at the basement to pick them up. According to employees, they plan to open more such outlets.
