Delhi is the place where people are always on the lookout for new food options and chill-out places. People are becoming a bit more experimental with their food. I too went for an experiment and that too with one of the most common and staple diet items of every house in India — yogurt, but in a new avatar.
Yes I am talking about frozen yogurts. Red Mango, a renowned frozen yogurt and smoothie brand which is present in 22 countries across the globe, is up with its fourth outlet in N – Block, Outer Circle Connaught Place. The best part is Red Mango claims to offer 100 percent natural, non fat and low fat, kosher and gluten free frozen yogurts fortified with pro-biotic.
It’s a small outlet having a seating capacity of 10 to 12 people. I was lucky enough to find a place to sit and enjoy my meal. Menu is quite simple and short. Since I had a cold, I started with a nice cup of caramel macchiato. Served to me within minutes, the macchiato was hot and nice. The layer of caramel blended well in it. The accompanying cookies were fresh and crisp too. Next I tried sandwiches which were low calorie and made out of multi grains. Surprisingly tasty, I haven’t had such a crisp sandwich in recent times. Multi-grains gave a good hold to the bread even as the stuffing of spinach and ricotta cheese was just right. As I wanted to explore more of yogurt flavours I stopped with the sandwiches though there were a couple of better options like the chicken tinga and Italian olivera.
As I was about to start with my yogurts, Rahul Kumar, CEO and principal owner Red Mango India, asked me to try their waffles as well. And they were worth trying. Now I went downstairs where the frozen yogurt machines are placed. It’s a self service concept where the yogurts start at a price of 99 paise per gram. There were four basic flavours available — Madagascar vanilla, strawberry, mango and basic yogurt. I went for a combination of them, topping it with the unending number of toppings available. Let me tempt you by naming a few — butter scotch crunch, coco pebbles, marshmallow, popping bobas. I just loved them bursting in my mouth. With the number of health freaks increasing in Delhi, one thing I am sure about is that Red Mango is here to stay.
