Protect your body this summer with the juice of raw mangoes

Raw mangoes are in season. Drinking juices with unripe mangoes and salt prevent excessive loss of water from the body and help quench thirst. It also protects us from the negative effect of high temperatures, such as the loss of sodium chloride and iron from our bodies as sweat.

It has some health benefits too. Raw mangoes mixed with honey and salt are a rich source of pectin that help treat gastrointestinal disorders. It is also considered effective medicine for diarrhoea, dysentery, indigestion and constipation. In addition, raw mangoes have more antioxidants and vitamin C than ripe ones.

This improves stamina and builds immunity. As an alkaline food, it also controls acidity to some extent. Here are two raw mango juice recipes to beat the summer.

Green mango drink


Green mango - 1

Sugar - 4 tbsp

Honey - 1 tbsp

Salt - a pinch

Ice cubes - few

Water - 1 1/2cups


Remove the skin and seed of the mango. Cut it into pieces and blend in the grinder along with other ingredients. Serve immediately.

Sweet and sour mango drink


Raw mango -1

Sugar - 1 cup

Black salt – 1/4tsp

Salt - 1/4tsp

Peppercorns - 6- 8

Mint leaves -15

Chilled water - 2 cups

Ice cubs - few


Wash the mango well, make two slits and pressure cook for three whistles. After the cooker cools down, take the mango out and wait till it cools to room temperature. Discard the seed and skin after taking the pulp out. Blend this in a blender with peppercorns, mint leaves, black salt, salt, cumin seed powder and sugar. Add some crushed ice and blend again. Pour it in a jar with a lid and keep it in the refrigerator. Sieve it and serve.
