Albert Bakery

This one probably holds the record for the oldest bakery in the city. It opens at 3.30 p.m. and is legendary for its chicken and mutton keema samosas. The gastronomical hotspot is known to cause traffic snarls with the huge crowds that throng this roadside joint on Mosque Road to savour its much-loved keema naan, khova muffins and bheja puffs. The 111-year-old bakery is run by a Muslim family and was apparently named Albert simply to make it easier to serve the British Empire’s aristocrats.

This list would be incomplete if we did not mention the famous Thom’s Bakery. The joint is a favourite haunt for confectionary lovers from across the city and is often packed with customers for its famous plum cakes. Serving some of the freshest bakery products in town, Thom’s is a thriving spot for its delicious samosas, yummy pastries and puffs. The joint is also known for their puddings, pies and wines.
All Saints
Hosur Road, Established: 1969
Started off as a small bakery dishing out fresh buns and pastries, the bakery has become a prime location for confectionary goods now.
Come Christmas and the bakery is packed with people for its rich plum cakes loaded with fruits and other goodies.
The joint is famous for its melt in mouth sugar doughnuts and hot cross buns during Easter.
Fatima Bakery

This 50-year-old quaint joint nestled in the heart of Cox Town is a favourite for cake lovers across the city.
The bakery’s special rich plum cake is known to attract people come from all over the State as well. Off Christmas season, the bakers in Thomson keep themselves busy with their exceptional Easter eggs and buns. The freshly-baked bread is another favourite among customers.
Koshy’s Bakery

If you think of old Bangalore, Koshy’s will be one of the many landmark memories of the city. It is a lesser known fact that Richmond Town has been home to south India’s first fully automatic bakery.
The bakery is famous for its 18 varieties of cookies, 10 types of pastries and six varieties of bread, available throughout the year. Koshy’s rum-soaked raisin-filled rich plum cake is one of the most sought after Christmas specialties which many say has takers from across the globe.

Iyengar Bakery
Every nook and corner of town
By far, the most common bakery in town, Iyengar bakeries can be found in almost every main street corner. The smell of fresh baked bread is irresistible.
Visit anyone of them and trays of masala sandwiches, aloo bun, puffs, sponge cakes and salt biscuits among other goodies will greet you.
The establishment is so famous that there are Bangalore Iyengar Bakeries in other cities such as Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Christmas features special plum cakes and an assortment of homely goodies like rose cookies, kulkuls and buns.

Some of the other happening bakeries in the city include V.B. Bakery on Food Street, Basavanagudi. A hit among people of all ages, this joint is most famous for the Khaara Bun Congress (KBC), almond toffees, and piping hot damrot. The KBCs draw crowds to the spot located on Food Street almost every evening.
Excelsiors Bakery is another favourite in the Shivajinagar area renowned for cakes, pastries and Christmas goodies.
