The fare at Dude Food.

New dude in town to rescue foodies like me, can be found bang opposite Sri Venkateswara College, better known as Venky’s. Yes I am talking about the 36-seater and hardly 10-days-old restaurant named Dude Food.

With a crystal clear philosophy, Dude Food promises to eradicate the political correctness from Delhi’s food scene. Everything on the menu is deliciously honest and will surely offend some anorexic and balanced critics, paranoid by the calorie count. As I was on my cheat meal day I was ready to encounter some really huge portions coming my way. Each and every Dude dish was a challenge to finish but that’s the USP of the place. Good food portions at rates which while eating will lead the customer to believe that today I have fooled somebody and got an awesome deal on my meal.

I started with a mountain of French fries loaded with minced lamb and cheese. Crispy potato fries went well with the mince in tomato base and tasted completely different. Chicken wings to follow were according to my palate. Tender, juicy and full on spiciness. The good part was the chicken on the wings, really filling. Even the breaded mozzarella was fresh and perfectly done. After having couple of dishes I was satisfied with the flavours and was happy that some really good food is on its way for my following courses.

After a pause, the chef introduced me to the non-vegetarian Dude Pizza. And I tell you that I have not come across such a loaded pizza in the city. Classic deep dish Chicago style pizza having a crispy crust able to hold layers of mozzarella, lamb mince, chopped sausages in Neapolitan sauce and still able to retain its crunchiness, that’s amazing. Forget the individual ingredients in the pizza but as a whole it burst with flavours. I only had a slice intentionally because I wanted to try at least two more dude dishes.

Aptly named garbage plate it has a mix of all kinds of meat with French fries and macaroni served with a fried egg on top. My final attempt was to finish the Dude Lamb burger having two patties and a fried egg in between. My first bite brought all the juices flowing through my fingers. Burger lacked a bit on tanginess and spice quotient but it’s a heavenly bite. I signed off after tasting awesomeness in the form of a deep fried Mars.

Meal for two: Rs.300

Where: 11, Opposite Sri Venkateshwara College, Satyaniketan.
