A nice option to have Mediterranean cuisine in Connaught Place is Fresc Co. The simple yet classy restaurant done with bright and soothing colours gives a pleasant feel. I gave a miss to their popular buffet and went for the a la carte menu launched this year.

The menu had all the Mediterranean signature dishes to line my gastronomic journey. Starting with Sicilian seafood broth that came in piping hot, I was a tad disappointed as it was too sour.

However, the lime grilled chicken salad that followed came to the rescue, what with the chicken grilled to perfection and the watermelon and mint giving the preparation freshness. The platter containing five delicacies maintained the upward trend, the dishes competing with each other in excellence. The old school prawn cocktail served cold in a small glass was delicious. The cheese panko chicken tenders, both tender and crunchy, did justice to their name. But the shish taouk served with garlic aioli was the winner for me: Perfectly grilled and nicely flavoured chunks of tender, juicy chicken. High on calories, the chicken wings were fried and topped with a barbeque sauce.

Fresc Co also offers variants of pastas though I gave them a miss and went for a nice solo pollo pizza. The thin crust pizza was topped with sliced chicken sausages, smoked chicken and pesto chicken — the trio of poultry preparations giving it a burst of flavours. The grilled jumbo prawns in citrus orange sauce didn’t fare as well. The sauce gave the prawns more than the needed sweetness, which overpowered the aroma of the seafood. The grilled chicken breast with wilted spinach was good, but the best among the meats was the tenderloin. Grilled as per my liking, the tenderloin was juicy and full of flavours. Green peppercorn gave it just the right subtlety.

Out of the eight listed desserts, only their signature flourless chocolate cake was available. However, even if other desserts had been on offer, it is unlikely to have made a difference, as their chocolate cake is bliss itself.
