Yet another international pizza chain which entered Delhi recently is Pizza Express. Located in Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj, Pizza Express sounds like music to the ears of pizza lovers in Delhi.

I went with huge expectations as the brand has been in the business since ages. The challenge which most of the international chains face is to cater to the local audience which tries to relate every dish to their own and known flavours. At Pizza Express, the selection of dishes is worth a notice and even the ambience with a live kitchen where the customers can see their pizzas being made. Also the service staff is worth praising as all the servers are trained to take the customers through the menu with ease which is rare to find in standalone restaurants.

The chef started my journey with their most famous dough balls doppio which is basically soft and warm dough balls served with pesto, pesto rosso and garlic butter dip. It was so good that I polished all of it in no time. Next in the queue was romiro al forno made out of sweet red peppers stuffed with variants of cheese, mushrooms, bread crumbs, parsley and then baked. This dish makes a revisit to Pizza Express almost essential. Even the prawn skewers and prawns in passata sauce had core Italian flavours where the use of garlic oil helped in enhancing the taste of the delicacies. I was surprised to find that Pizza Express offers a lot more than just some popular pizzas. Even their pastas, salads and cannelloniswere worth every bite.

Pizza Express seems to be a good addition to a city which really lacks in quality Italian joints. The square shaped pizzas came with one of the best bases I have come across any pizza joint. The quality of in-house sauces and cheese is excellent. Another extraordinary offering was padana which was topped with goat cheese, mozzarella, spinach and red onions. The pomodoro pesto variant burst in mouth with flavours worth cherishing. Their pizzas were too good to resist and one of the best in town. In desserts their chocolate fudge cake and cheese cake were just amazing.
