Kaati Zone at Ascendas is a one- stop shop for all those craving for light food. Serving a range of Indian rolls, from chicken tikka to Spanish BBQ veg, it's an outlet that's gearing up to take on all those biriyani and pizza competitors.
The chain that originally started from Bangalore has expanded into several cities down south and has a huge fan following. Now, the Chennaites are starting to line up as well.
On a platter
The menu does not have a lot to choose from; the most grabbed dish is The Tandoori chicken roll made of soft bhuna chicken pieces cooked with spicy masalas that can get you drooling in a jiffy. The vegetarianss can opt for the Jaipuri malai kofta or the Chilli paneer - both yummy and different in their tastes.
If you want to treat your taste buds to some international flavours, the Spanish BBQ veg and Szechwan chicken will entice you with all the flavours of the land they originate from.
Their new-on-the-menu or the cheese lover's special, Cheesseria is nothing but soft rotis served with a stuffing of veggies and melted cheese. If you are a cleanliness freak, rest assured, the food is cooked hygienically and the servers make sure their hands are clean and gloved; also the kitchen though small is kept spick and span.
Kaati Zone capitalises mostly on the working crowd who are on the run and missing out on the home cooked food.
The menu could do with some starter-like dishes (something light for people who are not so hungry) and desserts because no meal is complete without it. Also the menu is so small that even regulars might get tired eating the limited varieties again and again.
With other fast food joints like McDonalds and KFC, who share the same roof, coming up with new selections to attract customers, Kaati Zone faces some serious competition. All in all with moderate prices and fast service, it is a great place to grab a quick lunch. But for how long?
