I learnt this recipe from my grandmother. Tomato sweet pachadi is a traditional dish served at Tamil weddings as part of the cuisine.

What you need

Tomato - 12

Sugar - 2 1/2 cups

Water - 1/2 cup

Dates, deseeded - 4-5

Raisins - 1 tbsp

Cashewnuts - 1-2 tbsp

Ghee - 2 tsp

Cooking instructions

Wash and chop the tomato into small pieces.

To a heavy-bottomed vessel (or pressure cooker), add sugar and water.

Add the chopped tomato and stir well on a low flame.

The process will take 35-45 minutes to reach a pachadi consistency.

Fry the dates, cashew nuts, raisins separately in ghee and add to the pachadi.

Mix well. Serve warm or chilled.
