An exciting menu with some innovative additions would do wonders for TC Bar and Restaurant’s new outlet in Connaught Place

One restaurant I do remember where I used to hangout with my friends during college days was TC’s located at Adchini. It used to be one of my favourite places known for its karaoke nights and good starters to nibble along with drinks. Recently when I got an invite to review it all my old memories got rekindled. But it’s not the Adchini one I was invited to but its new outlet making its debut in Connaught Place. Located in M Block just above the subway, TC Bar and Restaurant has got an interesting décor with a wall done with wine bottle caps and numerous LCDs for the benefit of cricket enthusiasts during the ongoing T20 World Cup. Unlike the Adchini’s TC Bar and Restaurant, many seats were vacant probably because I dropped in a bit early.

The menu is elaborate but boasts the same old dishes which Delhiites have got used to. So out of the staple fare of man chow soup, crispy conjee lamb, kung pao, chicken wings etc, I carefully select French classic onion soup.It was served at right temperature but lacked flavours. The saving grace of the soup was the accompanying garlic bread with baked cheese on top. Chef Naval, the man responsible for the food, followed it with a kung pao and chicken wings. Kung pao loaded with cashews was delicious and wings were crispy and delightful to bite. Grilled prawns in BBQ sauce and chicken satay were good though satay seemed to be a bit dry due to the chicken breast used in it. Instead of going for a heavy burger or a sandwich I opted to have bun omelette. And what a perfect decision I made for it was just amazing. Thick cheese omelette in between a nice fresh bun made my day. I still remember that whenever I used to visit Mumbai bun omelette would invariably make it to my breakfast.Clay pot chicken though served in a glass bowl was good and complemented the steamed rice quite well. Pad Thai noodles were moist and flavourful which helped me to end my gastronomic journey at the restaurant.
