Whenever I am in Connaught Place, one thing I don’t worry about is, where do I dine? CP — like so many of you, I am sure — has been one of my favourites with some tried and tested restaurants.

This time, my stop was Warehouse Café. The name was tempting.

Once I was out of the first feeling of looking at one of the longest bar tables that the Café has, and sizing up its spacious, dark but not so dingy interiors, Wheel tables, an old book stand, vintage telephones and rugged walls added value to its décor. But for me the main focus was to try out its extensive menu designed as a calendar offering 365 dishes. I found it very interesting to go through the calendar menu where every month offered the same number of dishes as the days in that month.

So June having 30 days had 30 variants of pastas to offer. Well, I selected two dishes from every month as it helped me to try world cuisines at one go. Corn chowder soup from January and som tam from February were both worth a try. The soups were thick in texture and a bit on a sweeter side.

Being a non-vegetarian, March seemed to be the month for me as it offered chicken appetisers. I had an assorted platter including crispy ginger chicken and nawabi chicken tikka. Both were made to perfection, had nice subtle flavours.

Skipping months in between that offered pizzas, sandwiches and burgers, I tasted some exotic grills from the month of August. Cous Cous with vegetable curry was delicious.

Choosing Indian main course from September was a wise decision. Eating lal maans in a café-cum-club ambience was worth experiencing.

Even the Karachi paneer went well with the laccha parantha.

November offered 30 variants of desserts to choose from. One name in the menu tempted me. I called the waiter and ordered one bhans ki ankh. Basically a warm chocolate brownie cake topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And it was yummy.
