Latitude in Mosaic Hotels, Noida, has some innovative Indian dishes

The flavours of India now have a new ‘latitude’. After the success of the world cuisine restaurant Flluid, Mosaic Hotels, next to the posh Sector 18 Noida Metro station, has come up with an Indian avatar of its restaurant Latitude. It will now serve authentic Indian delicacies to its loyal and new patrons.

Though for me, the USP of Latitude is its Executive Chef Diwas Wadhera. An artist who plays with ingredients and comes out with something innovative and tasty. I am surprised to see the extensive menu starting with a seafood galouti. Truly, a classic variation. Tender seafood galouti dominated by prawns has the perfect Awadhi aroma of masalas. I particularly love the slipperiness of the prawns in the first bite itself.

Yet another starter, ajwaini tandoori jhinga, has an awesome clay oven aroma and a perfect feel of a typical North Indian side dish. Murgh ki chaamp too is different from the regular chicken tangris. Chef Diwas shows his master skills by cutting the legs and flattening them as a chaamp and then marinates them overnight.

The vegetarians should go for the bharwan aloo Peshawari. A nice finger starter beautifully coated with sesame seeds. Even the pudina paneer tikka is worth a try. The added advantage of having starters at Latitude is that they are served with the ‘Shot of the Day’, basically a soup of the day served in shot glasses. One more plus here is the complimentary munch-ons, served with a garlic dip.

For the main course, I try out its tawa murgh kali mirch and chhotey tamatar ka gosht. Simply delicious. Try them with the mozzarella naan.

One dish not to be missed at Latitude is kundan kaliyan. A regional delicacy from the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, it is made to perfection, has the richness of masalas, a silkiness in texture and an aroma of hot desi ghee as a topping which stays with you for some time.

Another surprise is meeti khoj, chocolate paan, a great dessert. I would call it a perfect jugalbandi of paan leaves and gulkand wrapped in creamy white chocolate.
