My mother cooked this dish last Vishu. As I enjoyed the dish, I learnt the recipe.

What you need

Unripe jackfruit: 1

Coconut: half

Chilli: quarter tsp

Cumin: 1 tsp

Garlic: 2 cloves

Turmeric: half tsp

Oil: 2 tbsp

Mustard: quarter tsp

Urad dal: 1 tbsp

Small onion: 1

Salt: to taste

Cooking instructions

Clean the jackfruit, slice and boil it until it turns soft. Let it cool and then pound it with a mortar and pestle. In a heated pan, add oil and mustard. Once the mustard splutters, add small onion, urad dal and season it. Scoop it out from the pan. In the same pan, you can put in the coconut, chilli, cumin, garlic and sauté it. Now add in the the jackfruit, salt and the earlier sautéed ingredients. Take it off the stove once the moisture from the dish evaporates. Garnish it with curry leaves.
