Malai gaji

Malai gaji

Malaai gaji is a dessert that resembles gulab jamun but tastes different. My grandmother used to make this for festivals. An Andhra dessert with a mix of sweet and salt it is easily made with few ingredients.

What you need

Maida – 3 cups

Sugar – 3 cups

Vanaspathi – 1cup

Curd – 1 cup

Oil – for frying

Salt a pinch

Cooking instructions

Mix maida, vanaspathi, curd, salt and 1 cup of sugar without water.

Keep aside for 10 minutes.

Boil the remaining two cups of sugar in water to get a single string consistency. Make small balls of the dough and deep fry on a low flame, until they turn golden brown.

Soak the fried gajis in the sugar syrup for 10 minutes.

Remove and serve.
