Chicken gravy

This is an easy-to-make tasty chicken dish which is a family favourite. I learnt this recipe from my grandmother.

What you need

Chicken, washed and cut - 1/2 kg

Tomatoes, diced - 2

Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tbsp

Fresh coriander leaves - a handful

Fresh mint - a handful

Chilli powder - 2 tsp

Coriander powder - 2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil - 3 tbsp

Curry leaves – a few

Onions - 1

Soya sauce - 1 tbsp

Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp

Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp

Cooking instructions

In a pressure pan cook the chicken, tomato, ginger, garlic, coriander, mint, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt with very little water.

In a kadai, heat oil add the curry leaves and onions till the onions turn brown. Add the cooked chicken with the masala. Stir well. Add soya sauce, tomato sauce and pepper powder. Fry on a low flame till well coated and dark brown. Cubed potatoes may be added if desired.

Serve hot with chapathi, poori or rice.
