Palamoosu podimas is a mouth-watering jackfruit dish. I learnt this recipe from my grandmother who serves it as a side dish.

What you need

Urad dal - 1 1/2 cup

Red chillies - 10

Bengal gram - 1/2 cup

Asafoetida - for taste

Curry leaves - 1 tsp

Jackfruit just turning ripe - 1/2 a fruit

Salt - to taste

Oil - 1 tsp

Cooking instructions

Open the jackfruit and cut into medium-sized cubes. Pressure cook it (one whistle). Heat an open pan, add 1 tsp oil and fry the urad dal, Bengal gram, red chillies and asafoetida powder. Keep aside and let cool. Grind the mixture to a fine powder, without water.

Now, grate the cooked jackfruit. In a dry pan add the mixture, grated jackfruit and salt and mix well. Garnish with curry leaves.
