A new restaurant on Avanashi Road offers you a variety of cuisines

Soups, noodles, fried rice, chopseuy, biriyani, kebabs, rotis, naans, and curries – the spread is diverse at Tangy Cuisines. The restaurant, newly opened near Nava India, is owned by G. Karthic, G. Raguram and S. Lokanathan. Karthic says they decided to go for a fusion of Chinese, Indian and tandoori, as all the three are dear to Indians. “Chinese dishes have become a part of the Indian cuisine. Noodles are served even in a tiny dhaba.”

We begin the meal with steaming “Broccoli N Coriander” soup, with a hint of lemon.

Shanghai Chicken is the starter and it is subtly sweet and tasty. The succulent chicken pieces are served with crunchy cashew nuts. The continental food lovers can bank on Garlic prawns and “8 to 9 Squid”, soft, chewy squid pieces coated in a tangy sauce.

Now how can we forget the Kebabs? Tangdi Khulfi which is chicken leg arrives in a silver foil. “It is roasted twice”, says Head Chef Saddam. “We marinate it in ginger-garlic paste and fresh cream, and roast it. When the meat is half-roasted, we cover it with a silver foil and roast it again.”

The samundar ki lahare, paneer kebab, coated in fresh cream and cheese, comes with vegetable stuffing of baby corn, mushroom, green chillies and onions.

The crispy rumali roti is like papad with coriander, tomatoes, onions and boondi, sprinkled on it. There is also taftan, another version of rumali roti, with turmeric, black sesame seeds, cumin seeds and sugar, which tastes best with the sweet Goan fish curry.

Other breads on the menu include the sweet and soft reshmi folded paratha” that is perfect to mop up the thick gravy of chicken Amritsari, and warqi paratha, that is layered and has a strong sesame flavour.

The restaurant also offers rice items such as garlic rice, Hyderabadi biriyani, and variety of pulaos.

The rich creamy lasooni kheer rounds up the meal, with other desserts on offer being phirni, gulab jamun and variety of ice creams.
