“Offer Tale is Google for restaurants and hotels in Coimbatore,” says Vimal Kumar, co-founder of >www.offertale.com . Started by two engineering graduates, this food delivery service allows you to order food from your favourite restaurants in the city online (or over phone) and have it delivered at your doorstep. “Even during our under graduation years, Vimal and I wanted to do something online. We have always been interested in software development,” says Prashaanth Venugopal, co-founder. “We were thinking of various e-commerce ideas. We realised then that in our city, there was no facility for people to order food online.”

Vimal was working with an MNC and Prashaanth had an offer to pursue his Masters in Netherlands. But, the classmates from school and college decided to set up Offer Tale, much to the disapproval of their parents. It was launched in February this year.

The company offers food delivery and hotel booking services, and has partnered with about 25 hotels so far, including Cream Centre, Seasons, China V’lley, Little Italy, Dosa Plaza, Alapenos and Myx. The menu cards of these restaurants are available on the website. All you need to do is choose your dishes, and wait for an hour for delivery. “We offer free delivery if the user stays within four km of the restaurant. Otherwise, we charge anywhere between Rs. 35 and Rs. 65 as delivery rates,” explains Vimal. Prashaanth adds that they also help people from other cities book hotels in Coimbatore. They book rooms on customers’ behalf, after receiving details (such as the budget and the type of rooms required) from them.

Inspired by Snapdeals, they also put up offers and deals on the website every month.

Vimal and Prashaanth have been receiving a “decent amount of orders” over phone and some, online. “We will start delivering confectionary items very soon,” mentions Vimal. “Customised cakes and pastries can be ordered on our website. We also plan to get into the banquet and event management space. And yes, a corporate lunch box programme too, where customers can pay on a monthly basis and have their lunch boxes delivered at office.”

Their expansion plans includes extending their services to places such as Chennai, Puducherry and Kochi.

The team of eight works from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on all days. For details, visit >www.offertale.com or call: 94898-58986.
