Aambala

Cast: Vishal, Hansika

Director: Sundar C.

A commercial entertainer with lots of comic elements…that’s what Aambala promises to be. With Sundar’s known track record in comedy, this film — that has been shot mostly around Ooty — a multi-starrer, features several known actors.

Anegan

Cast: Dhanush, Amyra Dastur

Director: K.V. Anand

The ‘Kolaveri’ star might have gone to Bollywood and done a film with Amitabh Bachchan but he still has Anegan lined up for release here. The stills are intriguing and Anand is one director who can surprise and make you sit up, like he did in Ko .

I

Cast: Vikram, Amy Jackson, Upen Patel

Director: Shankar

Vikram is back in business after a while and this time, it’s going to be big. One in which he reportedly had to be 120 kg for a role and 60 kg for another. I is one of the most-awaited films in the country thanks to the big names involved in it. And well, Arnold Schwarzenegger loved what he saw of the trailer. Need we say more?

Irudhi Suttru

Cast: Madhavan, Ritika

Director: Sudha Prasad

This is the film in which the lovable hero with chocolate boy looks you’ve grown up watching becomes all macho and menacing. Maddy plays a boxer and is said to have worked really hard on his physique and looks.

Kaaki Sattai

Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Sridivya

Director: Durai Senthilkuma r

Can an actor who is known for his one-liners and comic lines pull off the role of a cop? Well, with Kakki Sattai , we will know if Sivakarthikeyan can. This project also features music by Anirudh, who has teamed with the actor successfully on previous occasions.

Komban

Cast: Karthi, Lakshmi Menon

Director: M. Muthaiah

Yes, Karthi looks a bit like how he did in Paruthiveeran but the makers say that he’s strived really hard to be different. The actor goes back to the villages in this one and the fact that it’s releasing during the Pongal season might help.

Masss

Cast: Suriya, Nayanthara

Director: Venkat Prabhu

It’s a fresh, interesting combination and should be ‘mass’, as they say. Said to be a supernatural thriller it will feature most of the ‘boys’ who’re usually part of the director’s projects.

Nannbenda

Cast: Udhayanidhi, Nayanthara, Santhanam

Director: Jagadish

Remember Oru Kal Oru Kannadi in which Udhayanidhi and Santhanam managed to make you laugh a lot? They might do that again in this rom-com that has been titled after a popular Tamil film dialogue.

Okay Kanmani

Cast: Dulquer Salman, Nitya Menen

Director: Mani Ratnam

A Mani Ratnam film is always a Mani Ratnam film. It will be watched and discussed. Especially when it’s said to be a romantic drama, has music by A.R. Rahman and youngsters in lead roles.

Rendavathu Padam

Cast: Vimal, Richard, Vijayalakshmi

Director: C.S. Amudhan

You have to give it to this filmmaker for being funny, giving us a rib-tickling spoof of a first film and going on to actually name his second movie Rendavathu Padam. We hope that he gets to release the film — the trailer of which has been liked by many — at the earliest.

Uttama Villain

Cast: Kamal Haasan, Pooja, K. Balachander

Director: Ramesh Arvind

2015 could well be the year of Kamal Haasan, with atleast three of his films ( Uttama Villain, Papanasam, Vishwaroopam-2 ) slated for release. The first one is likely to be Uttama Villain , a comedy-drama that will feature the Ulaganayagan and a host of other actors. The late legendary filmmaker K. Balachander will appear on the big screen for the last time in this movie.

Vaalu

Cast: Simbu, Hansika

Director: Vijayachander

It’s been long-in-the-making and if it does hit screens next year, it might please a lot of STR’s fans. His on-screen revelry with Santhanam could be one of its highlights; and so will his chemistry with Hansika.

Vai Raja Vai

Cast: Gautham Karthik, Priya Anand

Director: Aishwarya Dhanush

She handled a brave subject in her first film 3 and got people talking. And now, this daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth is back with her second outing…and this time, it’s a romantic thriller. Watch out for cameo roles by Dhanush and Taapsee.

‘Vijay 58’

Cast: Vijay, Sudeep, Sridevi

Director: Chimbudevan

Watching the Ilayathalapathy, as Vijay is called, in a fantasy film ought to be a refreshing experience. Also to watch out for in this star-studded venture is the comeback of actress Sridevi to Tamil films after a while.

Yennai Arindhaal

Cast: Ajith, Trisha, Anushka

Director: Gautham Menon

This is a director-actor combination that fans have been waiting for. And now, with an interesting teaser and an audio release welcoming the New Year, the makers have everyone talking about it. Ajith’s characterisation, the pretty ladies and music by Harris Jayaraj are some of the things to watch out for.
