Fitness on the go
Fitness on the go

Fitness expert Abhishek Sharma has trained people from all walks of life. Among his celebrity clients are the industrialist Subroto Roy, and actors Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor.

Fitness on the Go is Sharma’s first book; a guide for the busy Indian. Sharma underlines the fact that looking slim is not the only marker of fitness. Fitness means having stamina and strength, and being calm and focussed.

Sharma asks a few vital questions: Is your weight under control? Can you climb a few flights of steps without being out of breath? Are you able to concentrate on your work? If the answers are no, then it is time to examine your lifestyle.

Sharma believes that it is integral to ‘follow a workout that combines stamina, flexibility and strength’ and offers a 40-minute routine that works on both body and mind, drawing from yoga, martial arts and athletic workouts. Sharma ensures that this can be done anywhere, without machines or equipment. He includes a range of exercises such as jogging, skipping and cycling as well as breathing and mind-centering exercises.

Fitness on the Go; Abhishek Sharma, Ebury/Random House India, Rs. 250.
