He’s back. You know his swagger’s going to be cockier. The gimmicks and gags cornier. The action more exaggerated and illogical. You know this one’s going to be so over-the-top, the question is when, and not if, it will topple over.

But you’re going to see it anyway. To see if Dabangg was one of those one-shot wonders. If the sequel can match the original’s quirky cool and box-office power. If Salman Khan can reprise himself, if he can power past Rs.200 crore once again.

This is going to be one hell of a test for the brothers Khan. With this sequel, we’ll know just how much Dabangg owed to its director Abhinav Kashyap, and how much of it was pure Salman Khan. The glasses tucked into the back of his collar will remain of course, but will we see any new Rajnikant-style gimmicks? Or more “confuje”-style desi dialogue?

The storyline, like that of so many films these days, has been kept under wraps. What we’ve been told by Salman Khan is that Chulbul Pandey is now a “family man” and in “a good space”… till circumstances force him to revert to his earlier Dabangg avatar.

You know what that means.

So the mood and ambience will stay pretty much the same, as will the rest of the cast. Arbaaz Khan and Sonakshi Sinha will be there, with Prakash Raj stepping in to fill the villain’s shoes after Sonu Sood’s exit.

And what of the badnaam Munni? This time around, Malaika Arora will be lip-syncing ‘Pandey jee seeti’. If you’ve been spoilt and her signature gyrations are not enough, you will also have Kareena Kapoor trying to seduce you ‘Fevicol se’.

In short, little else should change from Dabangg , besides the offer of two item numbers instead of one and Fevicol instead of Zandu balm. Not that it matters much — people are going to pour in to see just that one actor, really.

Bottomline: Not much change except for two item numbers instead of one and Fevicol instead of Zandu balm.
