It’s poll season in Pakistan. And, it is big this time; being the first ever to be conducted under civilian watch. If all goes as per schedule, this would be the first proper democratic transition. And, it promises to be a noisy election with politicians already ignoring rules about posters and banners to go the full length to woo voters. Former premier Nawaz Sharif probably takes the cake as of now.

Recently, he kicked off his party’s campaign in Mansehra in what was formerly known as the North Western Frontier Province with a tiger in flesh and flood. Yes, on stage with him was a tiger in its cage!

Evidently, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) thought this was the best way to imprint its election symbol on the voters’ mindscape.
