The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust has lined up some interesting activities for young aspiring naturalists this summer. Cleaning crocodile pens, feeding crocodiles, snakes, turtles and tortoises, trekking through the scrub jungle with the Irulas looking for snakes, visiting the nearby flying fox colony are some of the activities offered in the overnight summer camps.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday (April – June ).

Celebrate Ugadi

DakshinaChitra will be celebrating Ugadi from March 7 to 11. The five-day Ugadi festival at DakshinaChitra will showcase the culture of Andhra Pradesh with traditional Lambadi — folk dance of Andhra with dancers in vibrant costumes, dancing to the drum beats in rhythmic movements. The craft shop will have Kalamkari and Ikat fabric, toys and artefacts from Andhra Pradesh. Kalamkari Artist, Mr. Vijayakumar, who works in DakshinaChitra will also be working on Kalamkari drawings at the centre. A wide variety of traditional Andhra delicacies will be served at the restaurant at DakshinaChitra.
