Every year, we celebrate Deepavali and it is about new dresses, lights and constant reminders on safety around firecrackers. But many of us do not know why we celebrate it.
People, today, do not realise that it is the death of Naragasuran that we celebrate on that day. Since centuries, the practice of lighting lamps, firecrackers, sharing sweets and new dresses have been followed. It has brought a sense of unity among people. But today’s Naragasuran is pollution. We must accept this and play our part to eliminate it by not lighting firecrackers.
We see that the smoke and burnt smell remains many days after such festivals. Let’s consider our environment and act accordingly.
