It’s November and The Hindu Young World Quiz is back. And it’s the 15th edition. So, are your fingers on the buzzer?

Ten thousand teams from over 2,500 schools and 19 cities have been a part of The Hindu Young World Quiz for 14 years. The 2014 edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz is set to roll from November 26. As the quiz enters its 15 year, there are new components to look out for. First, every city will have a final round. Another new feature is that this year, in some centres, the quiz is open to juniors (Std VI to VIII) and sub-juniors (Stds III to V).

The quiz is hosted by The Hindu’s quizmaster, V.V. Ramanan, The sub-junior-level quiz will be held in — Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Coimbatore and Madurai. The Junior-level quizzes will be conducted in — Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi and Salem; Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Hubballi; Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode; Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

In cities where both levels are scheduled, the sub-junior event will take place in the morning and the juniors in the afternoon.

Rules

A team consists of two members from the same school. Any bona fide team from a school can participate by registering online and paying a non-refundable fee of Rs.200 per team. Registration is required to be completed on or before the cut-off date indicated in the website.

The quiz will have two rounds — a common written preliminary and an on-stage final for the top six teams chosen based on the marks scored in the prelims.

Winner takes it all

Participants and the audience will have an opportunity to win gifts and goodies. In each city the winners will receive a trophy, a bicycle and certificate. The first and second runners-up will receive trophies and certificates. All participants will receive a goodie bag and a certificate. So, make sure you and your school are a part of the excitement.
