G.S. Radhika of Government Higher Secondary School, Neduveli, has won the Young Scientist Award for the year 2011

The 23rd annual day celebration of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Kodunganoor , was held here recently. Information and Public Relations Department director M. Nandakumar was the chief guest at the function. Architect G. Shankar who was recently honoured with Padmashri, was felicitated at the function, a statement released by the school said.

Ports and Youth Affairs Minister V. Surendran Pillai was the chief guest at the 34th annual day celebration of Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School, Kaudiar , held recently. MLA V. Sivankutty presided over the function in which school principal Fr Paul Mangad CMI presented the school annual report. School manager Fr Mathews Chackalackal CMI was also present. Outstanding achievers in academics, co-curricular activities and inter-school competitions were felicitated at the function. More 250 school students participated in the cultural programmes ‘Rangotsav' organised as part of the function, a press release issued by the school said.

C hrist Nagar CBSE School, Thiruvallam , organised a food festival at the school premises recently in an effort to inculcate a sense of social awareness among students who brought and shared food prepared at their homes. The festival was inaugurated by school Principal Fr Gregory Perumalil CMI, a statement released by the school said. The money raised through the event will be donated to cancer affected children.

Radhika of Government Higher Secondary School, Neduveli , has won the Young Scientist Award for the year 2011 in connection with the national seminar on ‘Climate change and food security: Challenges and opportunities for tuber crops' conducted by Central Tuber Crops Research Institute here recently. Ms Radhika is the daughter of Gopinathan Chettiar and Sarojini Ammal of Kallampally, Sreekariam, a press release issued here said.

A group of 30 students from South Korea visited the Trivandrum International School recently as part of a month long Indo-Korean student friendship programme. The students, accompanied by two faculty members, arrived on January 5 and stayed at the school hostel. They attended regular lessons in core subjects such as Maths, Science and English and also participated in co-curricular activities like music, dance, yoga and physical education, a statement issued by Trivandrum International School (TRINS) said. The students, studying between Stds III to X representing various schools in South Korea, also visited tourist sports in the city and participated in a cultural programme held at the school where they, along with TRINS students, performed Dandiya and Punjabi dance. The delegation left for Korea on January 29, the statement added.
