School students came together to give a thought provoking message of celebrating a safe Deepavali at a programme organised by INTACH at VUDA Children’s Theatre last week. Students of Heritage Club of Little Angels, Navay Children’s School, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan and Visakha Valley School took part in the programme. “The idea was to give full freedom to the children to present the concept of a safe Deepavali through innovative ways,” said Rani Sharma, convenor of INTACH. The students presented the concept through skits, dramas and other interesting performances to convey the message of celebrating the festival in a pollution-free and safe manner.
ETASI Timpany School as part of International Coastal Beach Clean Programme organised a beach clean drive. Students of class VIII took part in the event. A rally was held from Kali Temple to the Submarine Museum. School executive director David Samuel, principals Annie Cherian, Nalini Nelson, Vandana Abraham, staff members and around 800 students participated in the programme.
The inter-school quiz for VUDA Children Club Rolling Shield and short drama competitions were held at VUDA Children’s Theatre as part of the VUDA Children’s Day celebrations. Quiz competition was held in preliminary and final stages. Six teams were selected for finals. The short drama competition duration of the short drama was 15 minutes to 40 minutes. Hilarious, comedy, historical, patriotic, mythological and social or message oriented subjects were chosen as topics for presenting the short plays.
The winners will be given individual prizes, certificates and mementoes at the Children’s Day celebration to be held on 14 November at Gurajada Kalakshetram.
