Kindergarteners of Mahita Public School on Tickle Road celebrated Krishnashtami. Addressing students, Director Seeta Mahalakshmi said such celebrations not only helped in educating the children about our traditional festivals but they brought to the fore the innate talent in them. Principal Chakravarthy, Vice-Principal Manjula and others were present.
Students of Bhashyam Little Champs at Gayathrinagar were taken to Rajiv Park as part of a field trip. The teachers explained the need to protect birds and animals to grow trees for a healthy ecology. Children had fun playing games in the sprawling park.
The school also celebrated Sri Krishna Ashtami. Girls came dressed as Radhas and boys were attired like Krishna. Some of the children recited slokas while others sang songs. Principal Kavitha, Krishna district zonal incharge Manoj Kumar and others were present.
Dressing up like Radha, Krishna and gopikas, students of Navodaya Public School, Kasturibaipet competed for a prize in a fancy dress competition organised as part of Janmashtami celebrations.
A pot dangling on the campus was a big attraction. Later, children dressed as Krishna were made to break the pot.
Chegu Vidyalayam at Jaggayyapet, celebrated Sri Krishna Jayanthi in a traditional way. Braving heavy rain, teachers, students and their parents took active part in the Ratha Yatra, a procession with a bedecked idol of Lord Krishna placed on a chariot. The procession passed through the main streets of Jaggayyapet.
A fancy dress competition, Uttikottadam (pot-breaking ceremony), tug of war and Jarudu sthambam (climbing up a pole smeared with clay) were the highlights of the celebrations.
