The students of Genesis Global School, Noida celebrated “Commonwealth Games Day” recently. Shera, the mascot of the games paid a visit to the school. A film on CWG was screened for the children on the basis of which a quiz competition was organised. The final phase of training of the Indian Netball Team at the multipurpose hall of the School, in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, Delhi 2010, came to an end. Mr. Gurbir Singh, President, Netball Federation of India, expressed his appreciation and satisfaction over the team's preparation for the Games.
The “Ozone Cell' of the Ministry Of Environment And Forest, Government of India, held various competitions for the school students to mark International Day for Preservation of Ozone layer (Sept 16) . This year the theme was ‘Protection of the Ozone Layer'.
Tarana Art and Music, a government registered organisation that gives opportunity to students to upgrade their skill and knowledge and to promote Indian art and culture, celebrated its annual function ‘Tarang 2010' recently at the Lok Kala Manch, Lodhi Road. Mr. S. N. Sahu, Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat. was the chief guest for the event. Students presented vocal, tabla, music keyboard and dance performances and the yearly magazine "Champs" was also launched. Gouri Bannerji, the guest artist, also presented a sarangi recital.
World Ozone Day was celebrated as an awareness programme by the children of Primary Wing TPS Shastrinagar. Through posters, charts and short speeches it was impressed upon the students that the Ozone Layer is the safety amulet saving all living beings from the ill effects of the ultraviolet rays coming from the sun. Children also took a pledge, “We shall stop using things, chemicals and gases which deplete the ozone layer and will use only ozone friendly CFC-free products and machinery."
