As people across Kerala observed the holy month of Karkkadam , Vidyodaya School, Kochi, too organised prayers and devotional sessions in the school. Devotional bhajans , classical dance and a skit based on the epic Ramayana were organised for primary students as part of the SPICE (Students Participating in Community Enterprises) programme.

Vijayalakshmi, a philosopher and orator, was the chief guest for the event. The Ramayana month is observed in Vidyodaya since 1991. As a part of the special event, inter-house quiz and poster making competitions were conducted in the school. Also, students as well as teachers recited slokas from the Ramayana. In a world of fading value systems, observance of the Ramayana month helped the children realise the importance of truth and the value of dharma.
