Here is a competition for school students from Ernakulam district who pose good questions under the Right to Information Act. Janapaksham, an NGO based in the State is organising the contest, for which the first prize is Rs. 5001, second Rs. 2500 and third Rs. 1001. The winners will also get a certificate and citation signed by famed playback singer K.J. Yesudas. “The aim is to increase awareness among the student community about the tremendous potential that the RTI Act holds to unearth corruption and to usher in much higher levels of accountability,” said Benny Joseph, State convenor of the NGO. Around 500 students from U.K.G. to Std XII turned up in Santa Claus attire at the Toc-H Public School for Christmas. They were christened the Toc H Santa Brigade. The school's president P.J. Joseph said that the aim was to spread the message of Christmas and to foster love, universal brotherhood and trust among people.

The Yasoram Charitable Trust organised a house-plan drawing contest for school students. Ananya Krishna A. and Anagha Krishna A., both from St. Thomas Public School, Perumbavoor ; Meera P.S. of the NSS Higher Secondary School , Tripunithura, and Nimmy Rajeev of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School , Chottanikkara, were the toppers in LP, UP, high school and higher secondary school sections.

The St. Ephrems Higher Secondary School, Mannanam , were the toppers (boys section) in the second Devamatha All-Kerala Basketball Tournament organised by the Devamatha CMI Public School, Thrissur. Both the finalists in the girls section — the Sports Division, Kannur, and the S.N. Trust, Kollam, were declared winners since rain played spoilsport with the match.
