Reduce the ‘foodprint’

February 24, 2014 03:41 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 10:42 am IST

When I go for my early morning walk, it is a common sight to see food being thrown away. Restaurants and eateries throw leftover food on the roadside or in the open bins nearby. My neighbours also throw food almost every day. This sight pains me. There are many children who can’t have decent meals, and go to bed hungry.

These simple steps can prevent such wastage. Cook in moderate quantity so that there is less wastage. At functions, assume how much you will eat before taking food on your plate. And remember that we can make lip-smacking dishes with the leftovers instead of throwing it away!
