While returning home one day, I saw a traffic police constable at one of the busiest roads in the capital. I understand it as a sign that women are to be given equal status in the society.
My Geography teacher recently shared her experience of visiting the eastern states of India. In Nagaland and Manipur, women are given the status that they deserve in society. Women are dominant and the ancestral land is inherited by the daughter and not the son. Also it is safe for women to walk on the road even at midnight. Then why isn’t the rest of India giving women the same respect?
We call India our motherland and our language, mother tongue, but women still go through a lot of hardships. Crimes and violence against women still continue.
