This proverb means that we cannot achieve anything without effort and sacrifice. For us, it remains a naked truth that success can only be won at the cost of hard work and ceaseless labour.

This is particularly true in the case of education. Students who aspire for great success and scholarship have to work hard. There is no royal road for learning. A student can never become a scholar until and unless he works hard and concentrates on his studies.
