In an endeavour to let kids and their parents experience nature in the purest form, Kissan created “Kissanpur — a farm in the middle of our city” with soil, seeds and over 7000 tomato plants. An initiative to get kids to spend their summer holidays not in front of a television but amidst nature, Kissan tries to bring alive the experience of a real farm in the middle of Mumbai.
Organic competition
In a bid to make children a part of a journey of growing tomatoes, three months ago, Kissan distributed 24 lakh tomato seeds along with a daily newspaper to kids in Mumbai and Delhi to explore the real world of Kissanpur. Soon 70,000 children who were once hooked to their gadgets discovered the joy of nurturing nature.
After months of sowing, planting and growing tomatoes at home, top 100 entries will be selected and the winning tomatoes will be used to make 100 per cent real and pure Kissan Tomato Ketchup. The winners' names along with their picture will be featured on the label of Kissan's ketchup bottle too.
This activity will then culminate in a week-long celebration of the “real movement” by bringing to Mumbai the “real farm experience” with lots of games, nature workshops and farm activities like origami demonstrations and workshops, pottery making, puppet shows, compost making and ceramic making.
Kissanpur will be held in Mumbai till June 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Inorbit Mall, Malad.
