Hong Kong summer

I had gone to Hong Kong this summer and the memory of this holiday still excites me.

The highlights were the cable car, amusement park and the vast Hong Kong Ocean Park that houses penguins, dolphins, sea lions and other sea creatures.

In the evening we visited Madame Tussauds wax museum and went for a tram ride giving us a chance to see the magnificent view of the city at night. It was mind blowing. The museum had wax figures of Jackie Chan, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Princess Diana, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson, Barrack Obama, Amitabh Bachchan and Adolf Hitler to name a few.

On the second day, we visited Hong Kong Disneyland. It was wonderful to see Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Dumbo the elephant, Cinderella Carousel, the jungle river cruise and the raft journey to Tarzan’s tree house. The souvenir shops were also quite a treat. I had the Mickey Mouse popcorn which was sweet, salty and tangy! The musical fireworks at the Sleeping Beauty castle were fantastic and mesmerising making my Disneyland experience truly a fairy tale.

Back in the city, we saw the Jumbo floating restaurant and Aberdeen fishing village where people actually live on boats called sampan . The Hong Kong special egg pies were yummy.

Hong Kong is a beautiful city. We also went to Macau by ferry. At the Ama temple we saw giant incense sticks and a ‘wish tree’. The Venetian Macau Resort hotel has an artificial lake, seven swimming pools, food courts and shopping malls. This resort is so vast in area that we needed a map to find our way around. Apart from this, what I loved about my six-day stay in Hong Kong is the great Chinese food.
